Hans Christian Andersen is an author who is loved by everyone. The tales he wrote, including The Emperor’s New Clothes, The Little Mermaid, The Ugly Duckling, and The Snow Queen, have captured the hearts of many people, conveying a fantastic story and his love of humanity.

《The Andersen Story》 is a play that combines The Little Mermaid and The Ugly Duckling, well-known stories the author wrote based on his own life experience. The play shows what made Andersen become an author and from what experience he wrote The Little Mermaid and The Ugly Duckling. The audience will vividly learn about the life story of Andersen as a writer who lived a spectacular life himself.

Actors and actresses wear many hats in the play and the scenes change swiftly. Pretty puppets and props are used to draw attention and many scenes are accompanied by background images. Overall, the play will satisfy both preschoolers and schoolchildren and give moving moments to teachers and parents as it reminds them of their childhood.

《Plot》
Born as the son of a poor shoe-repairman, Andersen becomes a member of the Royal Danish Theater with the dream of showing the wonderful world on the stage to the audience. But due to his homeliness, he is not acknowledged as an actor but only sings a song with his excellent soprano voice. He soon reaches the age at which his voice changes and is not able to sing anymore. Finally, he decides to write stories about his own life and goes to grammar school…
