    The Museum of Silhak puts on a performance related to silhak once a month on Culture Day. Muyedo botongji (The Comprehensive Illustrated Manual of Martial Arts) written by Lee Deok-mu, Park Je-ga, and Baek Dong-su, is a military training manual of the Joseon Period with illustrations of fighting motions, unlike other military books that focus on the theories of strategy and tactics.

    《Silhak Theater Picnic》 is a program for the test-free year. In the program, students can learn about silhak, silhak scholars, and their thoughts by participating in the presentation and theater play.

    《Silhak Ecology Picnic》 is a program for underprivileged groups who cannot often visit the museum. The program allows the participants to feel nature as defined by silhak scholars and to learn about silhak at the museum and in the neighboring ecological spaces.

    In Picnic with Art of Silhak, you will learn how genre painting, which puts emphasis on the value of the ordinary and the small, was developed as silhak emerged in the late Joseon Period. You will understand that the paintings by the ordinary people, with daily life as their subject matter, developed with silhak, and how they are influencing today’s practical art forms such as design, murals, and calligraphy. You will have the chance to learn calligraphy, one of the major practical art activities, with help from a calligrapher.

    By participating in the program, you can understand silhak as you look into the relics at the permanent exhibition hall. You will then watch a video on the 4th industrial revolution, followed by an experience of 3D relics restoration.
