Humanities in the Apartment Complex 《Society as Discovered by Contemporary Art》
“Society as Discovered by Contemporary Art” is the subject for the second half of 2018 for the Lecture Program 《Humanities in the Apartment Complex》, an annual lecture program operated by Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation. This lecture intends to shed light on the value of art and our society through artists’ social engagement in diverse forms. It introduces artists who bring social issues to light along with laborers and the minority, seek the role of art in healing, turn into humor the irregularities of people with vested rights, and bring the dark sides of social systems and cultures to light. They are those striving to get closer to us living in this society and our lives. We would like to examine the sides of society as spotted by them through their artworks that pose fundamental questions on contemporary values.
