#Perspective_experiment #Collection[For the Elderly] Collected Materials
#Meta_Museum #project’s #Perspective_experiment is an experiment in which various perspectives existing inside and outside of art museums are gathered, converted and exchanged to explore whether Nam June Paik Art Center can function as a plaza where different viewpoints may come together and be shared.

Among them, Collected Materials, a #collection workshop, is an artistic experiential program with Kim Joon, a contemporary artist. Artistic activities in which participants can manufacture their collection boxes are carried out, as people collect various “sounds” and “items” in the surroundings. This culture and art creation program can satisfy the cultural demands of the elderly. After going through different perspectives, ordinary sounds and items that we had merely been brushing by are reborn as artworks with new meanings. “Sounds” in the surroundings are collected by utilizing media related to “sounds” and memories of various items are brought out to freely express the appearances of the senior citizens’ daily lives. It will be a great time to discover the elderlies’ special stories in the midst of new meanings composed by sounds and items within the deepening fall season. The outputs of the creation activities will be shared through an exhibition after the workshop.

#Planner’s_notes
Collected Materials workshop, under the theme of sounds, utilizes “location-specific sounds” and “collected materials” from the surrounding environment to archive and express them with artistic senses. From John Cage to Nam June Paik, the workshop participants enjoy contemporary artworks that use sounds and collection as well as learn how to artistically approach them and utilize media. In addition, fine changes in our everyday environment are carefully observed, and artworks that list and archive various materials collected in those places by individuals’ emotions are created. It is a workshop in which things hidden and unseen in our lives are sensed and exposed while microscopic items in the surrounding environment are sensuously rediscovered through artistic actions that uncover and express hidden subjects from their own perspectives through the sounds measured.

#Artist_profile
#Kim_Joon is a media artist who studied communications at Yonsei University before studying new media at Berlin University of the Arts in Germany. Through various exhibitions, such as Hardened Pieces, New Zealand Rock Research, (2017), Autogenous Plants, Decorated Plants, Australia Plant Ecosystem, (2016), Mixed Signals, DMZ, (2015), Manifestation of Places, London’s Industrial Development Facilities in the United Kingdom, (2013), Processed Gardens, Seoul’s Nanjido, (2013), and Feedback Field, Berlin, Germany, (2012), he observes and collects phenomena from specific locations both in Korea and overseas, and displays the output through sound installation works. Sounds that exist in places where people live but remain undetected are explored by utilizing media based on geological research, and the output collected and restructured in those places is open to the public in the form of sound archives at art museums.
