Artist Financial Independence Support aims to establish a support system for continuous and stable art activities as part of an effort to improve the welfare of Gyeonggi artists. We are providing financial independence funding to young Gyeonggi artists, who are preparing for their continuous art activities.

We also seek to support creative spaces and public art for businesses or cooperatives which are preparing for financial independence based on art activities.

※ Areas to apply: 11 art areas pursuant to Article 2 of the Artist Welfare Act including literature, fine art, music, dance, theater, film, entertainment, traditional Korean music, photography, architecture, and cartoon animation

Young Artist Financial Independence Funding
By providing funds to young Gyeonggi artists, who are hoping to achieve financial independence, we are attempting to offer practical support to artists to ensure their creative activities and financial independence.

○ Fund size: KRW 600 million (KRW 300 million × 200 artists) (to be provided once per person)
○ Applicant: Young artists age 19 to 34 living in Gyeonggi-do Province
○ Coverage:
– Production costs related to financial independence or art-based startup activities;
– Reserves required to found and establish a business or cooperative that operates based on artistic activities;
– Art projects that are deemed necessary to improve the financial independence and business profitability; and
– Other equivalent art activity costs.
○ Schedule: To be completed in 2019

Creation Space/Public Art Project for Gyeonggi Artists’ Financial Independence
We promote social participation and financial independence for artistic activities by reducing the burden of rent for a creative spaces, which serves as the basis for art activities of Gyeonggi artists (and art groups), to create a stable creative environment, and supporting public art projects that will grow together with local communities.

○ Fund size: KRW 60,000,000 (sixty million won)
※ The size for each type of fund is allocated differently depending on its proportion to the total number of applicants.
○ Applicants: Art-based businesses (art groups) and cooperatives in Gyeonggi-do Province
○ Project description:
– Fund rent for artist creative spaces (studios, practice rooms, offices, etc.) in Gyeonggi-do Province
– Fund the hosting of local regenerative public art projects and local art festivals

○ Schedule:
To be announced on Aug. 2, 2019 (Fri)
Application period: Aug. 5, 2019 (Mon) – Aug. 20, 2019 (Tue)
